1. Information We Collect
1.1 No Personal Data Collection
Visionary Dictionary does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, or any other personal details to use the app.
1.2 On-Device Data Only
All data processed by Visionary Dictionary remains exclusively on your device:
- Camera & OCR: When you point your camera at text and tap a word, the camera frame is processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No images or recognized text are ever sent to external servers.
- Dictionary Lookups: Word definitions are retrieved from Apple's built-in system dictionary, which operates locally on your device.
- Saved Words & History: Your saved words and scan history are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework and never leave your device.
1.3 User Preferences
App preferences such as theme selection, haptic feedback settings, and ad removal status
are stored locally via UserDefaults on your device. These settings are not
transmitted externally.
2. Third-Party Services
2.1 Advertising (AdMob)
Visionary Dictionary uses Google AdMob to display interstitial advertisements. AdMob may collect certain device information and usage data to serve relevant ads. This data is handled in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and is subject to the User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow presented when you first use the app.
You can remove all ads permanently through a one-time in-app purchase. Once ads are removed, AdMob will no longer serve ads or collect ad-related data.

2.2 In-App Purchases (StoreKit)
In-app purchases are processed through Apple's StoreKit framework. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is not accessible to us. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.
3. Data Security
Since all user data is stored locally on your device and no data is transmitted to our servers, the security of your data is managed by iOS's built-in sandboxing and data protection mechanisms. We recommend keeping your device updated with the latest iOS version for optimal security.
4. Children's Privacy
Visionary Dictionary is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can investigate.
5. Your Rights & Control
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is no data for us to delete or provide upon request. However, you have full control over your on-device data:
- Clear History: You can delete your scan history at any time from the Settings screen in the app.
- Delete Saved Words: Saved words can be removed individually or all at once from the Saved Words screen.
- Uninstall: Deleting the app from your device will remove all locally stored data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
